We field a lot of questions about juice cleanses and which one is best. We hope through reading this, you will get a better understanding of what is best for you when it comes to juice cleanses! You will notice that I will use the term “juice fast” interchangeably with “juice cleanse”. I honestly prefer to use the term “fast” in lieu of “cleanse” so right of the bat you understand the goal is to “fast” from food and rely solely on fresh juice to provide nourishment. And to not focus on the word “cleanse” because your body is generally doing a good job of keeping things clean, and abstaining from food and only drinking juice isn’t required for your system to cleanse or detox.

 

1. Why do you want to do a Juice Cleanse?

I think it is important to understand what your goals are for doing a juice fast. There are a lot of different reasons why someone comes into our store looking for a juice cleanse and it’s always important to know this going into the cleanse. For instance, if you are only looking for some quick weight loss, we want to teach you why you “should” be fasting!

 Yes, you are going to drop a few pounds. And yes, I admit I have done a juice cleanse before a vacation to look a little better in that swimsuit. However, we want you to have the right mindset when you approach a juice cleanse and know all the other benefits doing a juice cleanse can have on your body. Starting new healthy eating habits, curbing cravings, reducing inflammation, healing your body, and nourishing your body with rapid nutrient absorption are all things I want you to be thinking about when you start your cleanse.

 Although losing weight is something that can be achieved through a juice cleanse, it should not be the only end game. Your mind and thoughts will impact the way your body responds and the effects your experience will have. Our goal is for you to have long lasting results that inspire you to continue using REAL food to get REAL nutrients into your body, and a juice cleanse is a great way to jump-start that journey.

 

2. Have you ever done a juice cleanse before?

This matters for a lot of reasons. I want to know if you had a good experience, or not so good so we can adjust where needed. Sometimes you need more protein or an additional juice every day. You may have found certain juices that made you feel better that we need to work into your cleanse. And the biggest thing is if can we get more greens into your cleanse this time! If you tolerated green juice well, let’s get as much as we can into your juice cleanse.

 

3. Are you planning on being active during your cleanse?

If you are someone who works out and has an active lifestyle, we like to incorporate an extra nut milk or juice with additional protein to keep you feeling good and happy. Feeling exhausted and grumpy after a workout is not going to do anything good for anyone! The goal of a juice fast is for you to finish feeling nourished and inspired, and feeling deprived diminishes those feelings. And negative thoughts and feelings will impact the way your body is processing all of the organic nutrient goodness you are fueling your body with. It is also important to keep in mind more juice does not mean fewer results…quite the opposite. It can mean more and longer lasting results!

 

4. Are you a green juice junkie or new to juicing?

This is always important because we want you to love the juice you are drinking. If your taste buds are adapted to processed foods and sugars, diving straight into our Pro cleanse might not be the best plan. We love to custom build each cleanse, so knowing where you are starting is so important. The more juice you drink, the more you will crave those greens, so feel good about where you are starting. If the Beginner cleanse will give you the best results, let’s start there! Next time you may be ready for the Intermediate with some more greens!

 

5. How long should you do a juice cleanse?

This is probably our most frequently asked question, and it has a different answer for everyone. My standard recommendation is 3 days for a few reasons. The first day you are still finishing digesting the food in your system, and the alarms are going off all day telling your body to eat. Day 2 your body starts to rely solely on rapid nutrient absorption and settles into its new fuel source. Day 3 is when the magic happens. Your body has begun to detox and has settled into using nutrients efficiently and effectively! Most people always say they wish they would have kept going with their cleanse after day 3 because they begin to feel so good; focused, more energy, clear-minded, and proud of what their mind and body has accomplished. After you successfully tackle your first 3 day fast, I’d encourage you to take on a 5 day for your next experience!
