BOWLS

Can I get my bowl or smoothie made with lower sugar?

Well yes, you can! We custom blend at BJC, so we can always sub the liquid used for your smoothie or bowl. Our zero added sugar options are unsweetened almond milk, coconut water, and alkaline water. We can also leave the honey off the top of your bowl, hold the chocolate chips, and use fruit that is lower in sugar. Let us know your dietary needs and we will make it happen.

What is Acai?

Acai (Ah-Sigh-EEE) is a berry that grows in the South American rainforests. They are similar to grapes, but they are loaded with nutritional benefits. They are antioxidant powerhouses, are high in fiber, heart-healthy fats, and calcium. This superfood provides a laundry list of health benefits and makes for a great base to our bowls and smoothies!

Are your bowls and smoothies vegan?

The only non-vegan product that goes onto our bowl is honey. We have Agave available upon request!

Are your bowls and smoothies dairy free?

Our bowls and smoothies are completely dairy-free. We do not blend with dairy, ice, or added sugars. We blend whole food and are pretty happy about it.

Are your chocolate chips dairy free?

They sure are! Good Superfoods, a local company, does an amazing job of supplying us with not only dairy free chips, but organic shaved coconut, organic raw Ecuadorian cacoa powder, Organic Maca, and their amazing Good Superfood Energy Bars.

Is your granola gluten free?

Our standard granola is gluten free, but it is not certified. We do offer certified gluten free granola per request. We also offer Toasted Muesli, which are oats with no added oils or sugars. They are just sweetened with a little bit of maple syrup. Please note that our standard granola is nut free, but is processed on equipment shared with tree nuts.

JUICE

Do I have to do a juice cleanse to get the health benefits from organic cold-pressed juice?

Absolutely not! Juice fasting is not for everyone. Adding nutrient-dense juice into your diet a little bit at a time can add dramatic health benefits. We recommend getting one juice in per day, but even if you start with one juice per week, you may start to feel a difference. Getting the nutrients and enzymes from fresh produce, especially if you are not consuming enough in your daily diet, can leave you feeling energized and give your body the nutrients it needs and loves.

How quickly should I drink my juice?

We recommend drinking your unpasteurized juice within 20 minutes of opening. Our juice is loaded with nutrients and enzymes, and they begin breaking down at a faster rate when exposed to oxygen. We prefer that breakdown happens in your belly, and not in the bottle. So bottoms up!

Do I have to refrigerate my juice?

Yes! Yes! Yes! Because our juices are raw and not processed in any way, they are very perishable. We want to keep those enzymes and nutrients alive and well and breaking down in your body, not in the bottle! Our juices rapidly lose nutritional value and taste when left unrefrigerated. All of our juice and nut milks need to be kept at 40 degrees or below at all times. On the run? Put those babies on some ice in a cooler my friends. At home? They live in the fridge.

Why does organic cold pressed juice cost more than other juice?

Every single bottle has 2.5 – 3 pounds of fresh, organic produce. When you consume organic, unpasteurized, nutrient-rich cold-pressed juice that is loaded with all of the nutrients, vitamins, and enzymes that whole food offers, you have to think of it more as liquid fuel for your body!

What is the difference between the green and the fruit juices?

All of our juices have great benefits for your body! Just because it isn’t green, doesn’t mean it isn’t doing wonders for your body. Green juice is famous for being more low sugar nutrient-dense while offering alkalizing effects. More fruit-based juices are still loaded with nutrients, vitamins, and enzymes that your body needs and loves. See each of our juices to learn what each one can do for you!

How is BJC juice different from grocery store juice?

Any juices that are sold in a grocery store or coffee shop are required by the FDA to be pasteurized for maximum shelf life. Pasteurization involves heating the juice and then cooling it during the manufacturing process to kill microbial bacteria. Another pasteurization process has evolved using pressure instead of heat. Unfortunately, pasteurization also kills vitamins, minerals and living enzymes that are essential in the digestion process and our overall vibrancy. BJC juices are pure; we don’t further process or pasteurize and we never add anything- no water, no sugar, no preservatives, no colors, no flavors.

Can’t I just eat the fruit and veggies?

Of course you can! But you are going to be putting down some serious fruit and veggies to get the same amount of minerals, vitamins, enzymes, and antioxidants that a cold-pressed juice can offer. There is approximately 2 1/2 -3 pounds of produce in each of our bottles. Also, juice is able to offer rapid absorption so the delivery of those goodies is much more efficient for your body. That being said, we still want you to eat your greens! But it is great to give your digestive system a little break and drink them too.

My juice tastes a little different this time?

Oh fresh organic produce…we love you but you tend to do what you want! Every batch of produce can have a little variance in flavor and ripeness, and that gets passed on to our juice. Although the flavor differences are often subtle, we kind of like that our wonderful produce likes to change things up every once in a while!

Is it ok if my juice separates?

Absolutely! We think it is actually a pretty beautiful effect, and your body will too! Because we don’t preserve, filter, or add anything to our juice, it tends to need a little shake to put itself back together. Separation is natural and as long as your juice has been refrigerated properly it does not indicate spoilage of any kind. Always refrigerate your juice, shake before consuming, and enjoy by the expiration date on top!

Do you offer delivery?

Well yes, we do! We deliver to the local Boise and Meridian area. Please call if you are outside of that area to see if we can deliver to you!

Why do you use plastic bottles instead of glass bottles?

We promise we love the environment. Which is why we use plastic at this time. We plan to move to glass in the future when we can offer a buy-back program for our glass bottles. But until then, plastic bottles are easier to recycle and expend less energy during the process. They are also lighter and require less fuel during transportation. We are BPA and BPS free. Our shot bottles are glass and can be returned to our shop for a little refund so we can recycle and reuse!

CLEANSES

What is a juice cleanse?

It’s simply refraining from solid foods for a period of days and only drinking juice for your nutritional needs. Replacing meals with nutrient-dense, unpasteurized, cold-pressed juice gives your digestive system a break from processing fats, heavy fiber, toxins, and processed foods. The digestive process is one of the biggest consumers of energy for your body. During a juice cleanse, your body is able to focus that energy on promoting healing, regeneration, and rapid nutrient absorption in a short amount of time. Doing a juice cleanse allows you to kick-start a new diet, recover from over-indulging, or simply give your body a much-needed break.

Will I be spending a lot of time in the bathroom during a juice cleanse?

Frequent urination is definitely going to happen. However, gastrointestinal activity should be reduced, not increased. Less in = less out.

Can I drink any alcohol on my juice cleanse?

We are fully aware that wine comes from grapes, and there are some fabulous potato vodkas out there, but we strongly advise avoiding all alcohol while you are on a BJC juice cleanse. Alcohol is a toxin and your liver deserves a break during your cleanse that is designed to rid the body and liver of those toxins. Without the consumption of solid foods, which helps your body digest alcohol properly, your body will metabolize the alcohol very quickly and leave you slurring your words after one drink. While you’re on a juice cleanse, let your body happily focused on rapid absorption and detoxification. Although it will happily absorb those toxins and alcohol if you introduce it during the process, save it for the celebration post-cleanse my friends!

Can I drink coffee on my juice cleanse?

BJC does encourage you to avoid drinking caffeine while on your cleanse. However, if you drink coffee daily, we strongly recommend weaning yourself off in the days leading up to your juice cleanse. Detox symptoms from lack of caffeine can be pretty hard on the body and psyche. If you are like our founder, and elimination of coffee is not an option, we recommend using organic coffee or tea with no added creamers or sugars. We have a flash brewed coffee combined with our nut milk that is a great substitute. You can also get an extra nut milk to use as your creamer for your coffee and tea. Cutting coffee out cold turkey can lead to your body focusing more on searching for its caffeine source rather than enjoying the benefits of rapid nutrient absorption. Talk to us more about this so you make an effective plan for you and your juice cleanse!

Can I exercise while I am on a juice cleanse?

Yes! We even encourage it. Breaking a sweat can even help facilitate the detox process. BJC juice cleanses are compatible for those of us with busy and active lives. Hot yoga or a light workout can be done on any of our cleanses. If you are planning a more moderate or serious workout, let us know so we can customize a cleanse with extra protein and/or added plant-based fiber to help provide increased energy to fuel your body through more activity and help it recover post-workout!

How often can I do a juice cleanse?

We like to encourage a 3-day juice cleanse every quarter or change of the seasons. With that being said, many people do a juice cleanse every month. If you are experiencing low energy, digestive problems, fatigue, malaise, or just generally feeling less than your best, your body could be trying to tell you it is missing some essential nutrients. Another good time to start a juice cleanse is before and after overindulging events like holidays and vacations when your body is begging for a little break and juice love. Every person and body is different so we believe in listening to what your body is trying to tell you.

How many days do I need to do a juice cleanse to receive the benefits?

Giving your body a break to focus on rapid nutrient absorption is incredibly beneficial whether it is for 1 day, 3 days, 5 days, or more. We love 3-day cleanses because it really gives your body time to finish the digestive process and allows for a few days of digestive rest and heavy nutrient and enzyme absorption. However, even a one day juice cleanse has enormous benefits. No matter how many days you know you can tackle, feel good about what you are doing for your health and for your body.

Am I going to lose weight on my juice cleanse?

BJC primarily focuses on the health benefits of doing a juice cleanse and adding our juice to your daily diet. Our goal is not, and never will be, to help people lose a quick 5 pounds. Obtaining health is not a quick process. You will lose weight while on your cleanse, but what we hope is that you will then implement juice and healthy lifestyle choices into your everyday life to help improve your overall health.

How will I feel after my juice cleanse?

Every body responds to juice fasting differently. We don’t guarantee results, but there are some goals and positive effects we hope to see. Increased energy and mental clarity are in large what many experience. Some weight loss and better digestive function have also been reported. In addition, reduced cravings and control over diet combined with a feeling of accomplishment and positivity that comes from doing something incredible that is just for you.

How am I going to feel during my cleanse?

Every body reacts differently when it comes to detoxing and introducing large amounts of enzymes and nutrients into their bodies. Few things are guaranteed, but feeling some level of hunger is to be expected. Most report increased energy, especially in the morning, because your body didn’t spend all that energy breaking down solid food to access the real fuel. You may have occasional detox headaches, drinking more water in-between juices will help alleviate the pain. Other symptoms may include: feeling fatigued and irritable, dizzy from time to time, have halitosis (bad breath), and a change in bowel movements. “Brain fog” is reported but so is a feeling of mental clarity after your first day. All of these are normal and present differently with each person. The key is to listen to your body and realize the benefits of cleansing drastically outweigh these symptoms. Sometimes we need to add extra nut milk, other times we need more water plant-based fiber, and even some raw foods. Regardless, if you have any concerns we are always here if you are experiencing anything that you feel needs to be addressed. Email us at boisejuice@gmail.com or call the store at 208-853-3330

Do I have to drink the juices in order?

Yes. We number your boxes for each day of your juice cleanse as well as each juice bottle 1-6 in the order to drink them in. The order of your juice is to ensure you are consuming the proper amount of nutrition and to help regulate your blood sugar levels throughout the day. We recommend drinking a juice every 2 – 2.5 hours followed by 8-10 ounces of water. If you find that you are super full, or feeling depleted and need a nut mylk earlier in the day, listen to your body. We can’t claim to know what every body needs, so make adjustments if they are necessary. And always call if you have questions.

Do I need to do to prepare my body for a juice cleanse?

In the days leading up to your juice cleanse, we highly recommend reducing meats, dairy, processed sugars, caffeine and alcohol from your diet. It is best to avoid anything on that list the day before you start your cleanse. The same rule applies to coming off of your cleanse.

What different juice cleanses does BJC offer?

We offer a Beginner, Intermediate, and Pro options. However, we customize every cleanse we send out to fit your individual needs. Depending on activity level, experience, and individual goals for your cleanse, we can help you decide which one is best for you and/or customize a cleanse to fit your unique lifestyle.

Why should I do a juice cleanse or “reset”?

A juice cleanse has benefits for both your body and mind. Doing an organic juice cleanse gives your body a break from the additives, chemicals, hormones, and pesticides that are found in so many of the foods we eat every day. Most of us consume an imbalanced diet with not enough organic and non-GMO veggies and fruit and too much processed sugar and processed foods. Our body is made to filter out the toxins we introduce, but our lifestyles put our digestive system and cleansing organs into overdrive! Juice cleanses allow for rapid nutrient and enzyme absorption that your body so desperately needs for cellular recovery and detoxification. It gives the digestive system a reset because it isn’t breaking down food to get to the good stuff it needs! It also brings about mindfulness about what you are putting into your body and your relationship with food. A juice cleanse provides a sense of control, balance, and empowerment that you can make healthy choices for your body.
